Technologies to Support Building Safety and Reliability

TO-RCS method (Toda-type RCS method)

Overview

Construction status of TO-RCS method

A common RCS method is a type of mixed structure in which columns are made of reinforced concrete (RC structure: Reinforced Concrete) and beams are made of steel (S structure: Steel).
RC members, which are resistant to compressive force, are used for columns, and S members, which are excellent in bending and shearing and are lightweight, are used for beams.

TO-RCS method (Toda-type RCS method) has three construction methods for columns.
One is to install RC columns by conventional cast-in-place concrete. The second is the use of a precolumn (centrifugally molded column outer shell concrete tube); a hollow thin-walled half-PCa (Precast Concrete) member with built-in shear reinforcement inside, for the column. The third method is precast construction using precast concrete column member as factory production. From these methods, we will propose the most suitable construction method according to the site conditions.

Advantages

Wide room space

Wide distribution facility space

Improvement of Economic Efficiency

Because steel frame processing can be simplified compared with ordinary steel structures, resulting in excellent economic efficiency and construction period.
On the construction side, the beam, which is a horizontal member, is steel, that eliminates the need for beam formworks, and makes it easier to adopt a deck plate for the slab, and makes it easier to save labor, shorten construction periods, and reduce costs.

Securing a Wide Space

It ensures a large span between columns, making it suitable for Shopping Center and redevelopment or complex buildings.

Environmentally friendly

When the PCa method is adopted, the amount of formwork waste can be reduced because of reduction in reinforcement work and formwork on site.

Compatible with weight reduction and vibration suppression

It is effective when the weight of the building has a limit and RC buildings is too heavy while there is a fear of shaking motion with the steel frame buildings.
Compared to S-type buildings, it is less likely to shake, thus improving habitability. In addition, compared to RC buildings, it can be made the longer span and the lighter self weight, making it structurally reasonable.
